Chapter 1
Finally, the work week was over and I could spend the entire evening and weekend on my hobby. In compensation, I sat in front of my computer most of the time and played an online game with thousands of others. It involved building a whole metropolis from a tiny village, almost without technology. At least I didn't have to run around the area all day, could chat with others via the internet, and found many friends. My actual job was physiotherapist in a clinic. Every day I ran with my bag through the long corridors, helped patients recover, and regain their mobility.
These included patients with artificial joints, broken bones, and simply age-related mobility issues. At least I had my well-earned break on weekends and could relax with my game. It brought me a lot of fun, connected me with hundreds of people across the German-speaking region, and I could comfortably sit in front of my screens. In my apartment, I had set up an entire room for it. There stood my pride: a new, very expensive computer with my big black desk and three monitors hung next to each other on the wall in front of my nose.
From my small village in the game, there had meanwhile become an impressive city, and I competed with others for the best positions to acquire raw materials. I had joined around 70 others into a community and discussed via microphone and headphones which areas we wanted to exploit for our growth. It mostly involved which of our technologies we stationed, how we could protect them from others, and naturally who needed what for their city. In this stage, it was about in which direction one's production should develop. Our group constantly lacked copper and the resulting components.
Especially computer chips and electrical wires blocked our cities' development. Copper was rare and also relatively expensive in the game trade. Our entire group always had to buy the necessary goods. But this should change in the future, and we wanted to set up our own production so that we always had enough stock and could sell the products dearly. For a total of two weeks, we planned together the entire action that was supposed to take place over this weekend. I had already prepared my city for this purpose a long time ago and built some production facilities, which, however, were still without the necessary material.
In the game, I simply called myself 'Fania,' derived from my real name Estefania. However, apart from the people in my group, I was displayed to everyone else as 'Userin 8349.' Some of my friends from the group called me by my nickname 'Fanny' after several conversations, a mix of my name and my jokes that I occasionally gave. Outside the game, nobody knew me. My friends only knew where in Austria I lived and what I did for a living. So it was quite anonymous, and I didn't have to worry that someone would one day stand at my door.
With my 26 years and my figure, I could not stand up against almost anyone. Mother Nature had been very kind to me in terms of my body height of 1.72 m, but I always remained under the normal weight. I could eat as much and whatever I wanted, and yet I didn't get heavier. My colleagues in the clinic always closed the door when I was nearby. Jokingly, they would always say that a small gust of wind could blow me into another building. I had already gotten used to this since my school years. As a young girl, I felt irritated by this, but it was never meant badly.
I remained simply always a long beanpole and could hide behind a streetlamp. Years had passed where I spent so much eating to gain weight, but somehow my body burned so much energy that nothing really took hold. The only boost I got was during my puberty when my breasts grew. But there came only B-cup bras, which didn't change much about my weight. At least I didn't have to hide. Most men liked very slim women like me, only with larger breasts and physically smaller. That didn't work for me.
In the internet, however, it was completely irrelevant. Nobody could see me, and there I felt very comfortable. There was only one small problem. For about two years, I had been playing this game with my group on the Internet, and we communicated via a small program. Everything happened virtually, and the others only knew my voice. However, they had held a big barbecue every year in summer. So far, I refused to participate and invented good reasons why I couldn't be seen there. I hated my figure and had already been rejected by many handsome men too often. That was something I really didn't want to experience again in my game. They were my friends, and I could talk with them about everything that weighed on my soul.
My friends from the internet and my game were practically the only ones I confided in. They enjoyed my trust and helped me with my daily problems and shortcomings. As a confidant, I brought them into the confidence and received many positive feedbacks on how I thought about it and also possible solutions on how I could deal with it in my everyday life. What they didn't know was my lack of self-confidence and how I suffered under it, hardly having any experiences with men. I had a very elaborate sex life. Actually, it had almost completely fallen out for many years. I wasn't what many men envisioned in my age as a partner.
With much luck, I managed to have sexual intercourse once a year with a guy who simply wanted to lie down with a woman in bed. I couldn't just let anyone in and most of those I liked kept their distance because I didn't fit into their prey schema. Which man would want to sleep with a woman he had to fear breaking through in the middle? Unfortunately, I was also not confident enough to approach men who interested me and ask for a date or maybe even a one-night stand. That was actually my biggest problem. It was extremely difficult for me to get involved with someone who didn't visually appeal to me.
Unfortunately, this led to me spending my whole youth alone and, due to the rejections I received, sought my soul's peace among my friends in the game. When I came home, I simply threw my bag into the hallway on the floor, disappeared into my computer room, and sat down on my comfortable colorful gaming chair. With a quick keystroke, my screens came to life, the computer booted up, and I prepared my necessary recordings. Immediately after that, I opened my browser, visited a site so I could have food delivered, and ordered a small meal for dinner.
Seconds later, I put on my headphones, pulled my microphone towards me, and logged into my game and the other programs to entertain myself. Since it was Friday evening and I didn't have to appear at work on the weekend, I had time until early morning. As soon as I was logged into the voice chat, my loyal friend Marius greeted me, who came from Switzerland and spoke a dialect that I loved very much. Marius was an employee of the tax office and was almost always online. His city in the game was already significantly larger than mine, and he helped me greatly with the development.
In contrast to me, he could spend significantly more time on it in the game and belonged to the inventory of the chat almost. For me, it was approximately like coming home. Continuously and around the clock there was something going on in the chat, and there was always someone there that I had known for a while. Marius greeted me enthusiastically, and you could tell by his voice the pure joy. Immediately I was back in the middle of things and could completely forget the annoyance from work. We took care of the last preparations and meanwhile waited for our fellow fighters who all appeared in the game and chat one after another.
Most came like me directly from work, and we had a wonderful conversation. These were exactly the times when the game and my fellow players replaced the missing family. They weren't in my apartment and I couldn't see them, but I could comfortably talk with them and, what was even more important, laugh out loud. We were already a very humorous bunch. Our group leader came online only around 6 pm and informed herself about the planned activities. Her name was Isabella, and besides the game she worked as an architect in Switzerland. She was already 56 years old and loved to tell about her grown-up son and her unfaithful ex-husband.
Only around 9 pm were we, who planned the expansion of our virtual company for this weekend completely and could go ahead. We occupied the selected mining area and set up our first machines for the extraction of raw materials. At the same time, others already worked on the setup of the transport routes that also delivered to my city. Until my smelter had enough material in her warehouse, it took a long time. But since we were only setting up the production, it took quite some time until we could fully benefit from it. From then on, it was about optimizing our production facilities in our cities and managing them so that we processed exactly what came in.
While we dealt with our own installations, the topic of barbecue party, which should take place in summer, came up again in the chat. This was really something else than a topic for me, although Marius constantly raved about it to me. This year, it was supposed to take place right near me. The planned venue was Linz, which was just 120 kilometers from my hometown of St. Pölten. By the West highway I needed just over an hour to reach the selected event location. Nevertheless, I didn't want to participate in this year either. How would my fellow players react if I showed up as a scared bird?
I would like to see Marius at least once from a distance so that he wouldn't see me. Also some other female and male gamers would interest me, but I had to fight with my lack of self-confidence. In the chat, I could show myself openly and get along well with really everyone. But would it also work in reality, or would rejection come to the forefront again, and I would destroy my carefully built-up family? I simply couldn't bear that. Marius tried to lure me. My voice had an effect on him like a diving bell on vanilla ice cream, and he would certainly like to get to know me better.
Actually, it was similar for me because Marius had a very nice voice, and I was extremely curious who was actually behind it. However, I couldn't just allow that. What if he rejected my company like most of them? In this case, I wouldn't only lose my trusted friend but also all my friends. The risk was simply too great. I tried to steer the topic again and again towards something else because I didn't want to get upset on this evening. Unfortunately, it almost didn't work. Marius had firmly set his mind on working me over until I finally agreed.
In the middle of the night, I could finally close the topic of the barbecue by promising him to think about it intensively. A look at my calendar didn't make it any better. The barbecue was supposed to take place exactly on the weekend when I would be back from my vacation. I had plenty of time and on this weekend I hardly needed to go into the game. Almost all of my group met about 100 kilometers away from me, and they wouldn't be online at all. That meant I would be alone for an entire weekend without my friends. Almost everyone would meet there, and only a handful of them would stay away for good reasons.
Even our group leader would travel with her grown-up son from Switzerland and spend the weekend in Austria with us. The only one who would naturally be missing was me. This put me under great pressure and took my joy of the game on this Saturday morning. Therefore, I ended my gaming session just after two o'clock in the morning, turned off my computer, and disappeared into my bedroom. But I couldn't quickly silence my mind. It kept me awake with the wildest thoughts for a while and only fell into a rather restless and hardly restorative sleep shortly before sunrise.
I woke up again only in the early afternoon and dragged myself still extremely tired under the shower. Actually, I sat in front of my screens right after getting up on weekends and met my friends virtually. Not on this morning. I decided to keep away from my game for a while longer and wanted to visit the supermarket first. Actually also something I avoided as often as possible. I didn't particularly like many people gathered in one place, which above all made my job in the clinic into a pure routine run. There was hardly a day when it was quiet and all kinds of people ran through the corridors.
That was worst on the children's ward. These little monsters couldn't even go to the toilet without their caregivers, and you could tell by the masses of people in the corridors. After dressing, I grabbed my bag and set off for my car. But only a few hundred meters from my apartment I ended up in a traffic jam and was surrounded by many people. This could be a very special weekend. Nothing functioned as I had imagined, and instead of being alone with my friends I had to face the company that looked at me as if I wasn't quite normal.
In the traffic jam on the country road, I then noticed that I wasn't quite normal either. I had simply forgotten to wear a decent pair of pants that would really hide my matchstick legs and had set off in sweatpants that were too short for me. The entire weekend was already ruined again, and I got angry at my own inability. What should have been an relaxation turned into a real nightmare that had just begun. Almost half an hour stood I in this traffic jam until I could finally move on, and then I entered the parking lot of the supermarket.
Even there my special luck didn't leave me. Although most had already stormed the stores on Saturday morning, they seemed to have been waiting for me exactly on this weekend. The entire parking lot was overcrowded and hordes of teenage boys parked their motionless bodies in front of the entrance of the shopping temple. Disheartened I got out of my car and approached the crowd from the side. It didn't take long before the first one looked at me with his puffed-up eyes and immediately alerted his friends. The joker of the group took me under observation, tilted his head, and suggested to me as quickly as possible to make a purchase. A skeleton should not remain without food for so long, he claimed.
Chapter 2
I didn't even take the young bullies seriously. Naturally, I was too thin and basically consisted only of skin and bones. But that wasn't my fault. It had been like this since my school days, and I had often tried to change it. These stupid remarks didn't need to remind me that I was too thin. The looks of other people in the supermarket were already nothing new. I myself knew perfectly well that I must look as if I were anorexic. It was simply ridiculous to be looked at like this, and it always caused me maximum humiliation. That was also the reason why I avoided people in general.
At least I didn't look like a foreign body at my workplace in the clinic. A woman with my body structure never stood out significantly there because, essentially, everyone thought I was a patient who had nearly starved to death and was being re-fed there. Actually, I worked there and dragged my bag around the area. Most people didn't even notice my name badge because of my job, but it slipped by in a quick glance. Only with the patients did this become noticeable, but they were so occupied with their own problems that they didn't pay attention to my body structure.
In the supermarket, I usually hid behind the shelves so that no one would discover me and look at me with surprised glances. Unfortunately, this didn't work on this afternoon. The entire supermarket was overcrowded, and I had to let myself be driven around like an animal in a zoo. Accordingly, I quickly did my shopping, before I again stood in line at the cash register like on a presentation table. There I felt absolutely uncomfortable, and even the small children with their mothers fled from me. In addition, there were also free comments that I didn't hear for the first time. 'Dead on socks' was still one of the nicer expressions.
After finally leaving the cash register behind, I quickly fled to my car, threw my purchases in the trunk and set off towards my apartment. That was already too many people for me this weekend. Therefore, I preferred my game. There I didn't have to be stared at, but could sit on my chair and stuff my stomach. Although no one saw it and it had no influence on my appearance, I was at least alone. If someone in our voice chat stepped on my toes, I could simply mute him.
At home, I started my computer, put the purchases in my cabinets, and quickly ate a real fatty pizza with an additional half bag of cheese. On a pizza there wasn't too much cheese, and these ready-made pizzas saved on good stuff. I didn't have to worry about calories. No matter what I stuffed into me, it didn't stick. At that time, I would have liked to get sugar and fat in combination intravenously so that I could finally gain some weight.
But that wouldn't help either. Even pizzas with additional cheese brought me no success. Not even when I afterwards immediately ate two bags of chips in my stomach, did I gain a gram. Most of all, it made me exhausted that I could eat like a never-satiated caterpillar and still didn't gain weight. Everything I stuffed into me came out again and regularly clogged my toilet. With more than three pounds of input, no abortion wanted to cooperate anymore and refused to transport the digested remnants through the too narrow pipes. While others only relied on healthy food so they wouldn't get fat, I shoveled food with a very high nutritional value into myself without noticing any change.
This problem even brought my parents many problems. First, it was noticed in the kindergarten and the educators there suspected that my parents didn't give me enough to eat. However, I was certainly well fed and could eat as much as I wanted. Then there was a first visit from the municipal doctor, who examined me but couldn't find any signs of malnutrition. This game continued in primary school and also at secondary school. Even shortly before my graduation, I was once again investigated on the orders of the authority because I was simply a streak in the landscape and looked as if I were about to starve.
The solution to this riddle was my metabolism, which was also examined. While every body essentially stored sugar and fat to provide itself with energy in an emergency, mine didn't do that. What was too much, my body simply didn't store but excreted unprocessed again. My blueprint had some kind of error, which caused me to always look emaciated, although I consumed an abundance of high-energy food. My pizza wasn't even fully baked when I sat down in front of my computer and started my game and the additional programs.
My trusted Marius was not online. Instead, my friend Anna-Lena greeted me in the chat. We had often talked until late at night. She worked as a nurse in a German clinic, which made us colleagues. We could talk for hours about our patients and always had much to laugh about. At her workplace there were, like with me, always some patients who were quite nervous. They had a schedule for the ward and next to each difficult patient there was a small note. So to speak as a small diagnosis for the nurses.
At one particularly unpleasant patient, it said, 'Patient suffers from an acute friendliness allergy,' which led to a real firework of humorous remarks in our chat. We didn't have something like that. Here it was only through mouth propaganda with the nurses. However, there were always all kinds of information added as well. Our nurses sometimes knew the entire family history back to the Middle Ages because they had sometimes dealt with the relatives. Anna-Lena could not often participate in our game due to her shifts, so she occasionally gave one of us her access data so that we could take care of her city, so that she could keep up.
I myself had already taken care of her account several times and looked after her balance. That was normal in our group. We supported each other mutually if private life behind the screen required too much time. There were a whole group who occasionally played three or four cities at once so that no one fell behind. Especially during the vacation period, these friends were indispensable. One you could always ask was also active in the chat. Jakob was an ex drug addict who, due to massive problems, lived on a small salary as a telephone operator and practically spent all his time in the game.
He worked from home and took care of the game additionally. Since he couldn't afford a vacation, he occasionally took over other accounts. He had already taken care of mine several times. There were never problems and he was extremely responsible. Every change he made, he noted in a document, which he unasked for the owner after his return. After my vacations, I could then precisely follow what changes he had caused and how my city changed during my absence. For us vacationers, this was a very welcome method to keep our cities running.
To thank him for his services, we sponsored him with some coins for the game. That was an in-game currency used for various expansion levels. You could either obtain them through the raw material market or buy them with a little money for your account and then pass them on via the group function. From my salary at work, I invested about 100 euros every month into my game and thus always had enough coins to give him for his services. Jakob financed his game this way so that he didn't have to use any of his meager wages.
At least this afternoon wasn't about the planned barbecue party anymore. Anna-Lena and I talked about the experiences of the week with our patients, spoke with Jakob about topics that were currently in the news, and had great fun managing our cities. That was exactly what I hoped for. In between, I ate my pizza with a lot of cheese and gave myself a whole kilo of strawberry yogurt as a small dessert. Through the chat, you could naturally hear that, but none of my friends asked anymore whether there was ever a time when I didn't have something in my mouth. They all knew it long enough.
In their imagination, I must be an extremely over-enthusiastic young woman who had to stabilize her chair in front of the computer with a steel frame so that it wouldn't collapse under my weight. They were far from the truth. Actually, the gas spring beneath my seat didn't even have to fulfill its function. With my few kilograms of body weight, it was literally a very light game. But we never spoke about our weight in the chat and as far as I was concerned, I wouldn't bring up this topic at all. Let them think that I had problems getting out of the chair.
In the late afternoon, Marius and Isabella came into the chat one after another. Fortunately, it wasn't about the planned barbecue party the whole afternoon and evening. They prepared us for a new player who would also join the chat shortly. He had just started playing the game and we should support him a little in his first steps. A short while later our new player arrived and introduced himself nervously as Saleel Jonker from Germany, who had recently discovered the game through an advertisement on a social network and familiarized himself with the basic functions.
Since the game, like us all, was very enjoyable, he stayed there and came into contact with our group. After that, he had long conversations with Isabella and informed himself about our clan. Isabella then included him in our group, and on this evening he took his first steps. I found his voice immediately very pleasant and began to ask him a little. Especially his dialect and his name were something completely different. He spoke German with a dialect from the Netherlands. His name was the choice of his father, who had come from love from Morocco to Leurden and there together with a vacation lover. He was the result of this liaison and spent the first six years of his life in the Netherlands.
For some reason, his voice alone already made a big impression on me. It seemed similar to him and after not even an hour we said goodbye from the group chat into another channel so as not to disturb the conversation of others. I was very happy to help him in his first steps in the game, explained him a lot calmly and had many hours of conversation with him alone. He worked as an electrician in his new home Germany, was just turned 27 years old and lived with his cat 'Queen' in a cozy apartment. Late at night, Isabella came to us into the channel and asked amused, "How many hours do you two want to talk alone?"
Immediately, Saleel answered with his calm voice and the nice dialect, "If it's up to me, until tomorrow night! Estefania teaches me everything perfectly and explains my first steps down to the last detail."
Isabella started laughing, "Then I'll enter Fanny as your personal supervisor if you two are okay with it. By the way, we need from you the first production numbers for copper plates Fanny. Can you enter them later in our document? Have a nice evening or a pleasant night you both!"
I completely forgot about this. This conversation with Saleel was extremely pleasant and instead of entering my numbers, as we usually did, I almost immediately forgot because of the pleasant contact. While Saleel and I continued to talk with each other, I noted the production numbers in our document and then took care again of all his questions that seemed never to end. We stayed the entire night in our private chat and had a wonderful conversation. In the meantime, we both took care of our game and made a small private deal. I sent him some building materials from my city and he sent me his surplus food.
We didn't even notice that it was already light outside our windows. Saleel and I were simply trapped in our game and our conversation. Neither of us wanted to end the game, and we actually went on until I could no longer keep my eyes open. In the early morning, we said goodbye to each other and I turned off my computer. After that, I disappeared into my bed and slept with a wonderful dream until the early evening. This entire night and half-morning was exactly to my taste. Saleel was a really nice person, we had a lot to laugh about and understood each other very well.
From my initial horror trip, one of the best days I had ever had in the game developed and additionally found a new friend who also gave me a real great dream with his pleasant voice. Unfortunately, it was already Sunday again and my gaming session couldn't last so long this evening. The next day I had to be at work again and should already be well asleep. Since I didn't have anything better to do anyway, I started my computer and hoped in the chat to meet Saleel again. Unfortunately, I only met Marius, who joked about the fact that I was alone with Saleel all night in a chat room.
He assumed that we both had played other games besides the game. Laughing, I reported to him about a virtual blowjob and told Marius in fun that Saleel and I had climbed all the mountain peaks of the Himalayas during the night. Naturally, we both knew that it was nonsense and nothing happened between us in this direction. But fun had to be and with Marius I have been friends for many months. However, he also reported to me about a new player, whom he had advised in a private chat room during the night. I didn't know the new player in our group yet and let my friend Marius tell me some things.
